It isn’t easy to open up your heart to one person. The fear that you will be misunderstood is always there. Still, it is incomparably more difficult to talk openly when you don’t know who will be listening to your words.
It isn’t easy for me to talk about my writing journey in front of a wider audience. I always think about people wishing to hear only success stories. Such as we see in movies. A talented person gets rejected but doesn’t give up, and in an hour and a half they get their big chance, and we rejoice watching their triumph.
In real life, it seldom happens this way.
First, success generally takes longer than half an hour to knock at one’s door. For most, years and even decades pass before they start enjoying some fruits of their hard labour.
Second, not everyone who strives for success finds it.
That’s where the topic of being an indie author becomes difficult. For us indie authors to talk about it. For other people, to understand why we keep on doing something that clearly isn’t a walk in the park.
So, if a sugarcoated perfect picture isn’t your cup of tea, watch the SIX ELEMENTALS AUTHOR INTERVIEW with me on the Drowned Kingdom Saga YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5uJX9oL2-4&t=3170s
It was easy to talk to P.L. Stuart honestly about the struggles and joys of an indie author’s life. He is an amazing host, in addition to being a remarkable writer. His genuine interest almost made me forget that it isn’t a private chat with a friend. I hope that the openness of our discussion, which came as a result of the relaxed atmosphere P.L. managed to create, will be beneficial for those who’ll watch it.
